The radiation technician schools teaches the radiologist about the preparing the patients for taking images. For example, a patient should remove all the jewelry before taking the image because x-rays will not pass through the metals and may not give a clear image of the organ to be analyzed. The technician is also taught on positioning the patients and the equipment at correct angle so that the image of the particular part can be obtained clearly. Before taking the image of an organ, the technicians measure the thickness of the part to be radiographed and set controls on the equipment to obtain the image of the appropriate density, contrast and clarity.
The radiologic technicians are taught on how to protect themselves and their co workers to protect themselves from the radiation. They are also taught on how to expose only the area that has to be filmed and protect the other organs form the radiation. A radiation follows the physicians’ orders precisely. They also prepare a report on the patients’ film and comment if the patient is suffering from any kind of abnormalities. The report that the technician produces is very important to the physician because he diagnoses the patient’s disease based on the report.
