Radiology is the study of medical science that deals with different types of imaging technologies like x-ray and scan. With the help of these imaging technologies, it is possible to detect and identify the presence of any foreign material in the body. A technician who is expert in using the imaging equipments is called a radiologist. There are many institutions that offer courses in radiology. Candidates must have studied information technology, biology, anatomy, physiology, biology and physical terminology in their high school in order to take up the course. There are many courses like the certification, associate degree and bachelor’s degree which will certify one as a radiologist.

Radiology certification course is one of the common courses that most of the candidates study to qualify themselves as technicians. During this course, one gains knowledge about preparing and positioning the patients, usage and maintenance of the equipments and processing the images. They also study about patient care, maintenance of personal ethics, basics of radiation, operation of different equipments and radiographic pathology. The duration of this certification course is 2 years. The students are given practical training in the labs to gain more knowledge about the equipments. They are given on job training to work with the MRI and CT scans in the second year.

After the completion of the 2 year course the candidates have to appear for the board exams which are conducted at the end of the course. The candidate will be certified as a practitioner based on the grades in the test. He has to get register himself as a technician in the particular country for working in hospitals and clinics. He works closely with the doctor’s instructions and also writes reports and comments on the images which are used by the doctors to diagnose and treat diseases.
